Not Without Hope
Not a day goes by when Nick Schuyler doesn’t have flashbacks about the tragic fishing trip where he lost his three best friends, Will Bleakley, Corey Smith, and Marquis Cooper. With two having died in his arms, Schuyler writes Not Without Hope to honor and get the truth out about what really happened.
Nick Schuyler survived the fishing trip but had to witness the three others who went with him die, two of them dying in his arms. All four of them played football including Corey and Marquis playing for the National Football League. Will and Nick had been friends ever since they meet in college and were a big part of each other's daily lives. All four of these young men exhibited outstanding perseverance, grit, and courage that the average person would have never been able to show in order to survive until the end or as long as they did on the overturned boat
The story Not Without Hope starts off on a perfect day in Florida where four friends, Nick Schuyler, Will Bleakley, Marquis Cooper, and Corey Smith, all get together to go on a fishing trip about 70 miles from the Gulf of mexico to a shipwreck site where thousands of fish live. Marquis had been fishing there many times before, in fact, he had just went last weekend with Corey and Nick.
There was many themes and symbols throughout the tale of Not Without Hope, with one main overarching symbol - the overturned boat. Remember, every moment might be your last and time is precious, so make sure it is well spent.
There is no doubt that any reader who tears through these pages like I did will pick up on the perseverance and dedication that all four of these guys showed repeatedly throughout the story. There will be tears and smiles, hope and despair, but in the end, a life was saved. The plot isn’t the main focus of this story - the passion and love that Nick has for Corey, Marquis, and Will is what this story is all about. This is his way to show the world his thanks to them.
Reading takes me away to a place that I love to be and wish I could be more often. Reading lets me be myself and explore places I know I never otherwise would get a chance to go and see.
